Rittal - Blue e+ Cooling Units

Now Seaworthy and Reliable Under Dynamic Loads

Rittal has further developed its Blue e+ cooling units to make them suitable for use at sea. Under the name Blue e+ dynamic, the company is introducing DNV-tested cooling units that meet the strict requirements of the maritime industry. These units have been tested for EMC compatibility, vibration resistance, and their ability to function reliably under various inclinations and dynamic loads.

The key test standard used by Rittal is DNV CG 0339 (Class A), specifically designed for maritime applications. This test ensures that the cooling units can operate safely and effectively under extreme conditions at sea, such as high dynamic loads and unpredictable movements. In addition to wave motion, engine vibrations impose significant stress on equipment and components. Cooling compressors and other parts can suffer severe damage, such as cracks in refrigerant lines and damaged mountings.

Cooling units are typically designed for static applications, such as factories or industrial facilities. In dynamic environments like marine settings, compressors can produce unwanted vibrations and start to “swing,” leading to serious technical issues.

Rittal has therefore optimized its Blue e+ cooling units for maritime conditions, making them resistant to heavy dynamic loads. The units were extensively tested at the Phoenix Test Lab GmbH in Blomberg and now meet DNV standards. This makes them suitable for use in shipping and other dynamic onshore applications, such as crane systems or baggage transport systems at airports.

The Blue e+ dynamic cooling units are available in four power classes: 1.0 kW, 1.6 kW, 2.0 kW, and 2.6 kW. They are robust, reliable, and energy-efficient, with a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of over 6.2. Starting mid-2025, the DNV-tested cooling units will go into series production under the name Blue e+ dynamic and will be available for maritime and other dynamic applications.

    Rittal - HUMMEL Cable glands
If you want to protect your components properly against external influences, a strong enclosure alone is not enough. There are always cables running to and from your equipment, which is why you need a cable gland in addition to the enclosure for a complete solution for protecting your equipment. This ensures that the end of the cable running to your enclosure is securely attached. After all, your installation is only as good as its weakest link.
